Father Bernard Raschke, Chaplain

The Spirit moved the Rev. Bernard L. Raschke, 77, to his eternal rest Wednesday June 30, 2010.

Born in Stratford, Wisconsin to the family of Albert & Barbara Raschke. One of five brothers Ernest, Joseph, Robert and Albert. With Albert also being a priest and dying in an auto accident in 1974.
Attended St. Joseph's Grade School in Stratford, WI. He continued his High School and College education at Holy Cross Seminary in LaCrosse Wisconsin. Studied Theology at the North American College in Rome Italy, where he was ordained for the Diocese of LaCrosse, on Dec. 20th 1958. Received he Master Degree in Education Administration from Marquette University, Milwaukee Wisconsin.
Served as Parish Administrator for St Patrick in Sparta, St. Olaf in  Eau Claire and St. Patrick in Eau Claire. Taught at and was Principal of Regis High School Eau Claire WI; Holy Guardian Angels Brackett WI; Sacred Heart Mondovi WI; St Mary Big River WI  and St John Edgar WI. Retired in 2003 and was living as Senior Priest in the Rectory of Corpus Christ Bakerville WI. 


Daniel Flees, Grand Knight

Daniel is a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and is an honor guard member. He volunteers to help in the kitchen for KC Lenten Fish Fry’s and Steak Feed’s and is involved in the KC’s Tootsie Roll drive. He is the Chief Squires Counselor and currently Grand Knight.

Daniel has been a WI DNR Hunter Education Instructor since 1998 and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA)  Central WI where he has held various offices and was President (2002-2003). Daniel has also served as the committee chair for Professional Development & Life Underwriters Training Council, Programs, Strategic Planning and Government Affairs Committee for NAIFA Central WI.  He has served on the Board of Directors since 2004.  He is a Wood County Master Gardener with his wife Dorothy. Daniel is active in the Marshfield Area Catholic Schools (MACS) system. 
 
The Grand Knight is the highest-ranking elected officer of his Council and is responsible for observing the laws of the Order and his Council and for the overall welfare of the Council. He also interacts with the Financial Secretary and Treasurer to ensure the Council is meeting its financial obligations to the Supreme and State Councils, and others.

Robert Geist, Deputy Grand Knight

The Deputy Grand Knight assists the Grand Knight in the operations of the council and presides at council meetings and functions in the absence of the Grand Knight.


Albert Kroll, Chancellor


The Chancellor takes charge of the Council in the absence of the Grand Knight and Deputy Grand Knight. The Chancellor is responsible for strengthening the members interest in council activities.

Albert Kroll was born in St. Cloud, MN.  The family moved to Duluth, MN where he grew up and went to school. He graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1963. Albert attended UMD for 2 years and then enrolled in the Nursing program at Hibbing State Junior College, graduating with honors as a Registered Nurse in 1967.  He then enrolled in St. Mary’s School of Anesthesia in Duluth, MN, graduating in 1969 and became licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.  His anesthesia career started in Duluth, MN and then took him to Plattsburg Air Force Base in New York and then to Marshfield, WI in 1991.

He married Shirley Johnson in Duluth in 1974.  They have 4 children, all college graduates with careers in banking, orthopedic medicine, active duty Army, and Optometry.

In 1978, Al was commissioned a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in New York.  His subsequent 27 1/2 year military career included Air Force Reserves, Wisconsin National Guard and Army Reserves, all in the Medical Corps.  He was activated for Desert Storm in 1990, stationed in Saudi Arabia and later activated for Enduring Freedom in 2003.  He retired in 2005 as Colonel.

Al has been active in Boy Scouts, Disabled American Veterans, and is a member of the KC Council 1799, American Legion, Holy Name Society and is a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus since 1995.  He is a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Marshfield, WI.


Albert Kroll

Bob Gauerke, Warden

Bob joined the Knights of Columbus in 1990. He was elected Advocate in 1997 and Warden in 1998. He served as Membership Chairman and Family fun day Chairman for five years. Is a member of the first degree team and is on the Board of Directors for the Marshfield Knights of Columbus Corporation since 2001.

The Warden supervises and maintains council property. He sets up the council chambers for meetings and degrees.


Dan Spencer, Treasurer and Past Grand Knight
Dan is a life long member of St John's parish were he held the offices in the Holy Name Society and served on the Parish Council. He has ushered for for masses and is currently in the Adult Choir.
 
Dan Became a third degree knight in 1976. He is currently a member of the 1st and 2nd degree team. He has served as the Youth Director, Retention Committee Chairman and Deputy Grand Knight for the council. Dan is now serving as the Diocesan State Raffle Coordinator and is the District Deputy. He is also a bartender for the club house.
 
Dan has also served as the Faithful Pilot, Faithful Captain and Faithful Navigator for the assembly. He is presently a Trustee for the Assembly and a member of the Honor Guard.
 
Dan is a Former Area Coordinator and currently on the Fourth Degree team of the Western District, and is the Executive Secretary of the Western District.  
 
The treasurer is custodian of all council funds and keeps the general and any special accounts. He receives all monies and pays all approved bills.


Dennis Wolf, Advocate

Dennis is married 35 years, with eight children and is a member of Sacred Heart Church 30 plus years.  Retired from the University of Wisconsin Agriculture Research Station after 32 years of service.

The advocate represents the council in any trial or investigation involving the council. He chairs the by-laws revision committee as needed.

Michael Bertram, Inside Guard

Mike joined the Knights of Columbus in 2004. Mike is serving as Inside Guard and is the current Youth Director.

When necessary the inside guard verifies current membership of meeting attendees.


Andrew Rief, Outside Guard

Andrew Reif has served as Outside Guard for several years. The Outside Guard admits all visitors to the council home.


Richard Thomer, Trustee and Past Grand Knight

Past Grand Knight Dick Thomer volunteers at several council activities and has served as inside guard.

The board of trustees supervises all financial business of the council and provides for a semiannual audit of council accounts.


James Zoellner, Trustee and Past Grand Knight

Jim is a charter member of Eielson AFB Council 8308 where he served as Warden and Deputy Grand Knight and as a member of the 1st degree team. Jim transferred to the Marshfield Council in 1997 upon his retirement from the military. He served as Advocate, Chancellor, Deputy Grand Knight and Grand Knight prior to assuming the office of Trustee.

Jim Peroutka, Recorder and Past Grand Knight
 
Jim joined the Knights of Columbus in 1965 becoming a officer the following year, serving as Advocate. He then served as Grand Knight in 1972/73 and became Trustee. He has been Recording Secretary since 1979. As Grand Knight he was instrumental in initiating the program of taking patients to mass at the Marshfield Convelesant Center Chapel every Monday evening. He is a member of the Board of Directors since 1994 and also a member of the 4th degree honor qaurd.

The Recorder keeps a record of all council doings and conducts all correspondence of the council.


Jim Kosmicki, Financial Secretary

Jim joined the Stevens Point council in 1965 and transferred to Marshfield a year later. He served as Advocate from 1985 to 1989 and was appointed Financial Secretary in 2001.

The financial secretary collects and receives all council monies and keeps the member accounts and the council membership roll. He informs the Supreme Secretary of all changes affecting council members.


Dennis Boucher, Lecturer

Dennis Boucher joined the Knights of Columbus on March 11, 2004.  Dennis is a very active member of Sacred Heart Parish.

The lecturer provides educational and entertaining programs for the council to help build meeting attendance and provide benefits to the membership that is present.
